ANNAPURNA
CIRCUIT (24
Days): |
The
trek around Annapurna is one of the finest in the Himalayas.
This 24 days trail takes you right around the great Annapurna
massif, visiting a Tibet like landscape on the rear portion
of Himalayas and into the dramatic Kali
Gandaki gorge-the deepest in the world. This is a long course that follows Marshyangdi River, crosses Thorung-La Pass (5416m) from the Manang basin and descends to the
Kali Gandaki. It is rich in variety and vistas the
complete trekking experience. |
|
The
change of scenery at the limits of Thorung-La and the remains
around the sacred Temple of Mukhtinath are also extremely
interesting. Trekking north we acclimatize in the important
trading village of Manang (3351m), before crossing the Thorung-La.
Further south, the contrast of the Nepaly Himals become even
more apparent, as high wind swept passes are replaced by forest
of mandarins and banana grooves. Finally, we trek out the
gorge and look back to the peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
before taking the forest ridges down to Pokhara. |

Jomsom Trek: |
| (A 9
days trek plus 3 nights in Kathmandu and 1 night in Pokhara) |
| The route
follows the Kali Gandaki Valley between the soaring peaks of Annapurna
and Dhaulagiri and finally emerges to the north of the main Himalaya
range on the dry desert like Tibetan plateau. The Kali Gandaki river
basin, the junction of the Indian plain and Tibetan highland, includes
wide varieties of races, religion, culture, climate, and topography
hence creating an interesting trekking course. The final destination
is the holy temple of Muktinath, a further days walk beyond Jomsom.
Muktinath is a famous pilgrimage site for Buddhist and Hindus where
you will see Tibetan traders as well as Sadhus from far south of India. |
 |
You
will gain the maximum attitude 3710m at this place yet altitude
sickness is not a problem because of gradual ascent. From Jomsom
you can make your return trip by flight or you will have to
retrace your steps down the Kali Gandaki Valley. |

Himal (11 Days) : |
| This
is a more strenuous trek, which takes you away from the main trail
to offer fantastic views and a marvelous variety of terrains. You
take a short drive from Pokhara with our team to the starting point
Phedi. We are on the main trail for the first day but leave all teahouses
and stalls behind on the second day. We follow a ridge to the base
camp, which offers panoramic views of Annapurna, and Machhapuchhare
is there right in front of you. A superb wilderness experiences the
heart of the Annapurna ranges. Our route back goes down into the valley
through forests as we follow the Seti River back to our transport
to take us back to Pokhara. This is an easily accessible wilderness
trek and appropriate for an average hill walker. |
